Temple Beth Torah's Social Action
In Action!
Temple Beth Torah Volunteers gathered to package donations made during Purim for those struggling with food and housing insecurity. As a result, TBT delivered over 200 bags to the Tri-City Community Food Bank.
The Food Bank desperately needs bags to distribute food, clothes and other necessities. However, plastic bags are now banned in California, and the food bank no longer has access to bags in which to distribute much-needed supplies.
Great job, TBT! Keep donating plastic, paper, and store insignia bags!
In addition to providing bags to the community food bank, TBT Social Action volunteers assembled 100 kit bags for those facing housing insecurity.
The kits included granola bars, raisins, and Ritz crackers, as well as toothbrushes, toothpaste, and SPF lip balm —eight items in all. Handwritten notes of encouragement were also included in the kits.
Donated items from TBT congregants and friends of TBT members included sweatpants, sweatshirts, socks, and underwear. All of the clothes are needed by the unhoused and were very much welcomed by the representatives from the City Human Services Department.

Adult Education & Torah Study
In our Beit Midrash (house of study), we welcome learners of all ages who engage in our many, diverse, opportunities for joyful study. Might you have a subject to teach or an activity to facilitate, even if it is not typically “Jewish?” Perhaps there is a class or program you would enjoy.

Tot Shabbat
Tot Shabbat is for our youngest learners 9 and under. Our monthly community learning series is a welcoming and inclusive experience for everyone. Tot Shabbat friends come together at Temple Beth Torah for music, Torah stories, crafts, and snacks. Join Morah Cheryl and Rabbi Sarah for fun-filled Shabbat Mornings that meet from 10:30am to 12:00pm, one Saturday per month in the TBT Sanctuary.
Social Action at TBT
We are always seeking volunteers for projects related to helping the unhoused in our community and newly arrived refugees, and working with food banks. Visit our Social Action page or email socialaction@bethtorah-fremont.org if you would like to contribute.
